In days gone by the wild one’s were our ears and eyes

In days gone by
the women were the foragers
they took their wisdom into forests where
they collected at the rivers edge
the ramsons and the nutty sedge
the need was clearly
to be more aware
the wild one’s known as Lisa’s
came to offer
their senses more attuned
were they to those
negatives that wandered
in dark places
to frighten and to harm
I do suppose
a vixen cocked and ear or two
and would alert the women who
could realise that danger was
close to her
and just because
of that these women tended to
be guided by the wild souls who
felt valued by all women kind
their preciousness they underlined
each was able to share an aura
of the whole sweet forest flora
a practical and compliant friend
an eagerness to help and send
a spontaneousness of course to lend
and on occasions to defend
in days gone by
the wild one’s knew
their ears and eyes
were always true
