Finding new homes for Battery chickens

Threadbare battery chickens
given a chance, again
just look at these poor creatures
they have endured such pain
freedom was not an option
the cage was all they knew
prisoners so tortured
designed for someone’s stew

they were treated as if nothing
not given any chance
brutalised and desensitised
not given a second glance
but in point of fact these chickens
sensitivity
was greater than the corporates
was ever likely to be

for their so called mentality
has been consumed by power
by worms that feed
on the brains and hearts
and do this hour on hour
they haven’t got a clue about
earthlng’s they won’t start
to understand what sentient means
because they lost all heart

they are a bunch of loonies
causing hurt where ere they go
these chickens give is all some hope
for they still seem in the flow
rescued from those sin bins
and offered freedom, they
seem positive and happy
as they go about each day
