Experimentation on Marmosets and other primates

Monash University in Australia
where primates seem to
hit the dust each year
deep brain probing
doesn’t that sound ominous
good bye to 5 sweet Marmosets
the fear

engendered in these souls
must have been terrible
farewell to these dear Marmosets
operated on and gone forever
imagine 5 karmic debts
accruing
each one afterall
poles
apart from humans
that is to say their
actual brains
were never going to be
the
same as ours
but sadly it didn’t matter
the experiments went on
their souls are free

animals are the voiceless
they come and of course
they’re gone
their little lives
were wasted
in the sun that shone
they would have loved to be there
where creation put them they
where they just felt happy
till man stole them away

to where the scalpels sparkle
where the cages were
exchanging paradise for hell
that’s what did occur

I don’t know how they felt
to be experiments
but I
imagine they were beside themselves
realising why
they’d become the patients
though not given any choice
suffering the greatest loss of all
without a voice

The rainbow bridge
they climb on now
beneath a sparkling stream
un caged at last
thoughts of their past
apparently a dream
there were other technologies
apparently that could
have been used I am hearing
and perhaps really they should
have been used rather
than take primates
and consign them to
a final resting place
and now I beg of you

do not kill more primates
Please just let them be
leave them where creation put them
in some forest tree
