what we do to farm animals and their offspring we will pay the price later( you will see)

The sordid, unforgiving
treatment metered out to living souls
who happen to be acting out their
sad lives in the many roles
we have deemed to create for them
in CAFO’s where they
live their miserable incarnations
and are made to pay

for our profit led economy
and the margins we create
corporate strength and stability
that might otherwise negate
no truer state of affluence
and so now what we see
are the animals we use for food
their lives are purgatory

so doom filled
so unnatural
so dark laden with despair
the mothers writhe in
gestation crates
and their babies go no where
they are tortured as they enter
the life stream for they will
have their tails snipped off
their teeth cut back
and from the males more
blood will spill

as their testicles are simply
pulled away
by a labourer with his greasy pliers
the surgeon of the day
he doesn’t have a scalpel
anaesthetic or a mask
he’s in the business of saving money
so what more can we ask

the babies live in jeopardy
infections can become
serious for all of them
and terrible for some
they re enter reality
made complex by the woe
and shock to any system
that they are forced to undergo

such torture and such agony
its violence now that brings
us humans to our senses
if we’re watching from the wings
if we sit and watch those video’s
rather than turn away
if we sign up on petitions
and on face book we pay

attention to the crimes of man
in CAFO’s everywhere
where profit is the key word
but where animal despair
is now at truly an all time high
it’s an evil path we tread
as carnivores now on all fours
we too are as good as dead
