Poem written especially for the editor of Vogue Magazine

Feathers and fur
are all in Vogue
but not in hearts and minds
to wear the skin and the hair
of animals is where
I draw lines
in the sands of time
Dear Anna
for souls created to
have furry coats
and furry skins
were never mean’t for you

or I
we have our own skins
and most shave off the hair
so to put it back
by wearing a dead body
makes me swear
for that body belonged to
someone sacred
it had a heart
and children too maybe
it might have been a mother
a sister or a brother
but one thing Anna it wasn’t
born on you or me
