Christmas carnage

Christmas a time
of wonder and cheer
of murdering gangs
who display so much fear
10 million Turkeys
Yes all that karma
chickens and Capons and Ducks
the poor farmer
Geese, Partridge, Pheasants
and Guinea Fowl
all with big almond eyes
all who threw in the towel
a windowless shed
packed in like sardines
till their hips did collapse
like so many machines
their eyeballs pecked out
so many have died
not enough water
sort of crucified
the madness of Christmas
nobody’s in doubt
so many are throttled
its one great big rout
decapitated
so much blood is spilled
plucked and cut open
and bloody well filled
with force meat and chestnuts
and herbs and white salt
and sugar and suet
no one cries a halt
not at Christmas
the pudding the mince pies
the cream
the brandy, the port
and no one hears them scream
the 10 million Turkeys
and the rest of the game
who lived very short lives
and suffered the same
awful death so that humans
could chomp on the meat
on the blood and the guts
thinking it was a treat
all that terrible karma
will hang in the air
the murder gangs
and the all the families who share
all allocated great dollops of grief
which is wasted on them
for with little belief
what will come will come later
no one will care
but by association
what comes will be fair
