The struggle was too much

The Buttercups are up in force
Around my Cherry tree
Tiny stalks seem able
To withstand how it can be
The British Summer
apparently
prefers to remain lost
in grey skies
and a biting wind
which all adds to the cost
so many plants that struggle
to get a foothold
on the mantle of creation
They have gone
by the wayside
feel their weakness
not prepared for the fight
not ready for the wind and rain
from its really powerful bite
they wrestle with their being
but fail in many ways
uncertain of the future
and so few sunny days
