The brothers of Nari Chapter 10

Freedom to run
Freedom to Play
Freedom they cannot
take that away
Nor can the men
with their ugly guns
Their broken hearts
and their jealous sons

Friendship,
we have friendship
And an awareness
all can feel
We walk in
each others shadow
And when walking
out reveal

our pups we love
Their future lies,
within their tiny frames
We are going
to show them power
And play our
wild wolf games

All cower
before the Condor
and also the Mountain Lion
As in the
twinkling twilight
Each snowy hill
we climb

To sink one’s teeth
In a fresh clean kill
With all its juices
running still
To taste that really fresh
killed beast
Makes for a
satisfactory feast

Men, are the worst enemy
To the apex killer
running free
Trapping, shooting,
convolution
Is there to be
a good solution

In the misty veil
of evening
There stands a
mysterious orb of light
Out there by the mountain side
A bouncy Bison
looking bright

a 1000 pounder
that,would feed
A family, for a while
Lone and I might bring
it down
With some honest guile

But we would have
to watch ourselves
For a blow from a Bison
Could break our back
Crush a leg
Hurt us so and all of this
With one attack

When suddenly,
down from the sky
A smothering of pellets
Did higgly
piggly all around us

Yes they just did

Lie

Just everywhere
A fishy smell
Live Vaccine Baits
Dropped down from hell
Inside each bait Rabies
Vaccine
Live and hoping
To set the scene

To dose up
immune
systems around
And to kill
the
Rabies on the ground

We chose to leave them
For men we know
Often try to steal
our show
By using a hammer
to kill an ant
And end up
with an ugly rant

The Bison lived
another day
And we, well we,
went on our way
A rabbit here,
a young Elk there
some earthworms,the odd mouse
a Bear

Came running
a bit too near
And we just changed course
For it was clear
That bear was angry
it had lost a cub
and was anxious
and clearly
ready to blub

But a mile or so on
she was there
with 3 small cubs
and an answered prayer
All was happy
lots of joy
Clearly she’s found
her little boy

Lone and I
we ran around
Just seeing what
was to be found
The snow was melting
in the sun
and little rivulets
did run

And where the rays
had found
fortune
A plant or two,
sprang forth
and soon
was joined by others
What sweet power
That draws from the earth
the petal shower

A lizard here,
wild birds there
Those vaccines
coming from up there
In one of those
silvery noisy planes
With a man high
holding on to reins

Its firery engines
splutter so
In the katabatic
winds
that blow

Lone and I both made it back
The sisters had
caught an Elk
Its back
was still intact
and smelled real sweet
We tackled it, we had to eat

A bit of it
and then laid down
To reminisce
on the day
And in the comfort
of our cave
Beside each other lay.
