Unfeeling is it an illness who can say

Hardness as a rock
A piece of concrete or cement
Shatterproof and fortified
Hardly heaven sent
Something to be kicked along
Without a vital force
Meaningless composure
Nothing at its source

Can we describe
Those torturers
Who apparently
Can come upon a hedgehog
A critter who can be
Spiny
Round and rock like
But who has a heart and soul
Compared to us
He has substance
And a will yes to control

Those of us around him
He has imagination
Hopes and wishes
Coming from
Of course
Yes the creation
He has a place
His miracle is life
As is ours
He lives in his tranquility
And whiles away his hours

He is lucid and is cognisant
His humility is there
His gait is slow
His height is low
But of course he is aware
A creature of the wild he be
A warrior in form
Who came to be a victim
And felt the wrathful storm

Of ignorance and arrogance
In youth around today
They saw this ball of life
And love and decided
It was way
To small and insignificant
To let it just pass by
When they could kick it down the street
That feeling made them high

Human yes born from a mother
Who created the life force
Carried them gave birth to them
She nourished them from source
And this is how they repay her
Affirming how they feel
Murder and torture and horror
And are happy to reveal

Such exploits on the media
On their digital space
The killing of a rabbit
Or some pigeon chicks
To grace
the social media aspected
With their evil scented vile
Torture so demented
It is right off the dial

Teaching them to help wildlife
Such an introduction
To me is putting other souls
At risk
And their abduction
For thoughtful dire transgression
I believe to be
Wrong
These two need treatment
That’s how it feels to me

Mendaciously they ponder
Skullduggery appears
Economical with the truth
Raising yet more fears
In me of other sufferings
Of another creature who
Might get to feel the wrath and woe
Of this terror two

And this is my reluctance
To take the animal route
For those still unconsenting
And not able to scoot
For me there is a wickedness
And a stubbornness a foot
that is my contention
However well it’s put
