A love affair

Of all the towns
In all the world
One wonders why taiji
Why japan
How it began
Both places on the sea

The third of march
In 42
The japanese came by
Bombed the port of Broome
And 88 did die

That must have left
Sad memories
But despite that
What we see
Is Broome in Western Australia
In love still with Taiji

Since 2009 their marbles
Clearly were all lost
When they sistered up
With Taiji
And what has all that cost

Taiji, an ex whaling town
Took to murdering dolphins they
Drive them, with disorientation
In an agonising way
Frowned on by so many
Its torturous and sad
Whole pods really whole family trees
Are murdered

Where is god?

Children all around the world
Ask
Its so hard to say
These dolphins are already
Polluted and the way
We torture and enslave them
Its so wicked and unfair
And for BROOME to cuddle up to them
You would ask are they aware?

Is it a miscalculation
A lack of vision there
Why offer them your favouritism
It just seems unfair
AUstralia is most put out
By Japan still whaling on
And at Taiji too the carnage
And the cruelty they don

The pithing it is dreadful
We are talking about sweet souls
Intelligent as the day is long
Who carry out their roles
The matriarchs are teaching
Their children everyday
Great tribes of learning dolphins
Murdered in this way

That BROOME continues its love affair
Gives them browny points for sure
They snub the likes of all of us
And they just kill more and more
2009 for about eight weeks
They decided to withdraw
The Japanese were beside themselves
They really did abhor

The decision to withdraw support
And whatever they did do
BRoome just lost their marbles
And went back as clueless to
The murdering for it carried on
Live broadcasts every day
Sea shepherd giving live feeds
And so many souls did pay

Its truly narrow-mindedness
Its parochial I feel
Misjudging snd misconceiving
Dogmatically but its still all very real
So much true frustration
Whatever the warriors do
Cove guardians and activists
We are left looking at the blue

Water around Taiji
Turning a bright red
With the sinew of the families
Many of them dead
Some its true are captured
And sold off to the world
Enslaving them forever
Into the deserts hurled

Many have gone to the arab states
To live under the sun
In their tiny bath tub homes
Really under done
Living on the dead fish
Dosed up with pills they be
To live perhaps half of the life
They would have lived if free

Taiji’s attempt at zen
Is bigoted and wrong
They profit from the sale of wild souls
That did not belong
To them these really amazing beasts
Who freely roam the sea
Are captors or are victims
Of the folk from yes Taiji

To me your base naivete
Its heart wrenching and I
Having watched the ocean creatures
For many years I try
Whereever to protect them
To study their lives of grace
To object to those who harm them
And view them with disgrace

I am targeting you councillors
Hoping you will see
The ignorance thats manifest
Back their now in Taiji
They are earning from whale watching
From the torture and the pain
And they are slaughtering whole families
And its happening again

They are buying fins from Iceland
Going against the grain
Superimposing aggression
On the IWC the strain
For those of us around the world
Hopeful we can try
And reverse the killing
Its unscholarly
That still so many die

You there represent for us
A great height of absurdity
There is no logic none at all
For us its just futility
They really are aggressive
Despite the pollution they
Carry in their bodies
Growing worse now every day

Hair samples from the people
Are really very high
Methyl mercury is a problem
And PCB’s all lie
In the flesh and in the blubber
So eating them for me
Is a certain kind of horrid
And in part insanity

For BROOME to carry on the love affair
With a people who deny
The cruelty the agony
The frustration which is high
Sagacity and acumen surely
You understand
But taiji takes its lead in fact
And The fires of death stay fanned
