Detroit red wings and the Octopus

The Stanley Cup finals
In Detroit I hear
Back in 52
It became kind of clear
With 8 arms
Their seemed some significance
And so
They Adopted the octopus
And then did throw

Live and dead creatures
When the play offs were won
Smuggled into the game
People thought it great fun
Such a lack of respect
And irreverence here
There is no point
For me that is clear

Its humiliation i have to say
They have such intelligence
But seem to pay
For some silly idea
Its mocking them and we
Should be above this
Leave them all in the sea

Red wings red faces more
If you ask me
Superciliious nonsense
Just futility
Get on with your playing
Leave the octopi
Alone they love life
And have no wish to die
