Water is life or should be

Existence on this planet
Is currently under fire
The realization of what is being done here
Is so dire
For me it is undeniable
Why corporations feel
And they all appear indestructable
Whatever they conceal

The pipelines now criss crossing
America today
Using eminent domain
To clear people out of the way
Unbelievable distances
From fracking pads to where
Refining is then going on
And no one seems to care

From the tar sands in Alberta
The black peanut butter rolls
Now under our farmland
With unremitting goals
The people bear the greatest risk
For water is afterall
Life and all these spillages
Make us out to be the fool

For ever signing up to this
They are arteries so foul
Running close to where we live
Should we have thrown in the towel
Give up and just expect the worst
Or imagine all is well
These pipes are carrying the crudest oil
That ever came from Hell

Spillages are one a day at least
According to
Statistics gas and crude and
Hazardous liquids do
They tell us they are as safe as houses
But of course thats one big lie
And risking life and limb for them
Is foolish and you can see why

At DAPL thats a 750 mm size
Goes around the standing rocks land
Now thats a big surprise
They tried to route near Bismarch
But all the white folk there
Said sod off with your black snake
Just run it somewhere

So they without permisssion
Ran it by standing rock
Carving up their sacred lands
Eminent domain big shock
When the indigenous people
Said we don’t want it here
Then they got a great big shock
Being presented with some fear

The mercenaries came to town
The law enforcement too
The national guard oh yea
They are hard
In what they chose to do
Humvees water cannons rubber bullets they
Fired bean bag rounds at the elders
Standing in their way

With prayer sticks and with smudge sticks
They were pepper sprayed
Maced encased in chemicals
In them they all laid
So much force and evil
And the media didnt care
They were getting beaten up
Every blooming where

And so they called for back up
And hundreds of tribes did come
Thousands of people hit the road
No they were not so dumb
And then there was a stand off
And many injured souls
Most on the indigenous side
Beaten up by trolls

And there have been big spillages
Recently as well
176,000 gallons
Doesnt that sound swell
Into the ash coulee creek it went
From a six inch pipe
The monitoring equipment failed
As usual corporate tripe!

3 years before 200 miles away
From this new line
840,000 gallons spilled
Was there a sign
No 11 days later
The farmer noticed oil
Bubbling from his wheat field
Coming through his soil

He notified Tesoro
The corporation who
Had put in the pipe line
To see what they could do
His livelihood totally ruined
His massive wheat yield lost
To clear it up 4 million dollars
But reality shows the cost

Three years and three months later
The remedial work will cost
60 million dollars and the work he lost
Again the so called pipe controls
Didnt work at all
The corporation apologized
But again who is the fool?

For believing what they tell us
And what if this pipeline here
Goes ahead and theres spillage
Into the water its clear
Would really be significant
And awful in the extreme
With fresh water being impossible
And no way to redeem

DAPL Must be cancelled
They really tried it on
They bypassed the reporting stage
Segregation gone
They hoped to use their muscles
And frighten folk away
But came up against the indigenous
And the order of the day

The world became aware of it
Via facebook and live feeds
We watched the bloody law enforcement
And their dirty deeds
And the lies they put out daily
The sheriff and his crew
Dressed up in the warring kits
To do what they did do

Brave men of the nation
Kitted robo cops
Fighting pregnant women
And elders full of strops
Firing rubber bullets
At women and children too
This the bravest law enforcement
Thats what they did do

And everyone could see it
Their mouths were full of lies
Beating up young warriors
Was that a surprise
Not really they were cowards at heart
Robots in the field
Riot police in army gear
And with weaponry did build

A kind of violent staging
On the hill and on the road
Shouting out their messages
Trying hard to goad
The warriors who didnt have weapons
They just stood their ground
Most just with their prayer sticks
Getting beaten and the sound

Of cannon fire and concussion grenades
And helicopters over head
It was surveillance 24/7
Even in their bed
Shining bright lights
Through their teepees that was what they did do
Putting the fear of god up them
So therefore nothings new

And with obama in the white house
Letting it go on
The sheriff telling loads of lies
All of that a con
Actors and personalities arrested
And in jail
Stripped searched some left naked
And, some with no bail

Thats what they were doing
Working the corporate through
As for the tax paying natives
Treated like fools what to do
Wait to get beaten up daily
Send in the vets was the cry
They called for 1000
And 4000 came and another 500 no lie

Wells fargo and citi bank banking
And other banks backing these lines
Divest is the word they were using
Wake up and just see the signs
Money began pouring into the camps
And more people joined up as well
It was all growing and growing
ETP though felt like hell

The contract was due to expire very soon
And they wanted to carry on
But obama embalmer got off his proud horse
And said shut it all down or be gone

So now what we must do all over AmericA
Is realise that these pipes
Are coming the drumming
you better be hearing
Any of you they will be clearing

Your homes your farmland your gardens
Thats what they are going to do
All the wild creatures that live on the land
Will be killed off, that is true

All the wild forests all the green spaces
Park lands and gardens those airs and graces
Soon will be dug up and frack pads installed
Methane and noise you will be over ruled
