The mound of the hostages

The mound of the hostages
The passage tomb
It’s megalithic
And that isn’t much room
On the hill of Tara 3000 BC
Where cremated remains
Are like sands from the sea

An engraving smile on the front
Entrance stone
It’s prehistoric
A calendar known
As a sort of observatory
It appears
With even more ashes
And possibly tears

The hills of Loughcrew
Can be seen from the west
Breathe the air from the mound
At Yule it may test
Your chest and your lungs
As the frost takes its toll
Jack on his back clearly always with soul
