Rhinoceros

From prehistoric ancestry
This armour plated soul
A digging horn of keratin
Who understands their role
Completely vegetarian
And can reach a tonne in weight
Not the most intelligent
But a sad victim of late

They do not have teeth they
Pluck at food
Use their lips in fact
But they have a good digestion
Fermentation they react
Its so sad they are victims
Of arrogance and shame
Which began with Chinese medicine
And the doctrine of signatures too
Supposedly good for libido
Which is simply untrue

A significant intrusion
The delusion and the guile
The horn is purely keratin
As are finger nails
A while
To ponder on this wonderful soul
Who has a precious horn
And is critically endangered
The moment it is born

14 million years ago
They came to earth to be
Perfectly designed then
And we still can see
Them living but mostly dying
Due to lies and much deceit
Keratin cures nothing
Those who do this cheat

Its delusional activity
Each Rhino dies in pain
For nothing its no cure all
Their precious deaths are in vain
We have to wake those people up
And tell them to realise
Rhino horn has no properties
Why is that a surprise?

That the black market
Makes it out to be
It really isn’t fair
These animals are innocent
Its the humans that are not aware
And the carnage and brutality
The poaching and the price
We all pay for such ignorance
Which Is anything but nice

My appeal to China
Is to be honest with us all
We can save the rhinoceros
As a guy he is no fool
The horn will make no difference
To anyone who is sick
All it proves is the criminals
Consider you as thick
