Another bloody hunter

Out there in the forest
Freedom spirited there
The liberty of logic
Kind of everywhere
Unhindered and unobstructed
Grazing naturally
Tasting all the sweetness
Of the grasses also free

And there we have the master
The young man with his gun
Out there on an expedition
To have his share of fun
Sees the deer a feeding
Decides this is his day
He is going to kill that brute
And send it on it’s way

The rainbow bridge is beckoning
A first kill seems to be
What this young man needs right now
It’s his destiny
Just to say he killed something
Put and end to its life
Took it from its day of reckoning
Into it’s day of strife

The boy hunter stood his ground and fired
And it slammed into the deer
Blood spurting every which way
It was very clear
This deer would not now feel no more
It’s life was blown away
It’s ability for happiness
Had become its decay

The boy had heard of the social ritual
Blood smearing and applied
The victims blood upon his Cheek
Why should he be denied
The history and the culture
From the English Foxes who
Got the very treatment
back when
It all was true

To have killed a fox was tragic
To pay respects a thought
Smear it’s blood over your cheeks
And don’t feel overwrought
If you respect an animal
In time they do respect you
Blood smearing might feel endearing
But to me it’s sickening too
