My previous poem of January
Saw me in a frame of mind
Going off to the place of rainbows
Surely I was blind
My faculties played out by life
Lost in plangency and woe
Thinking that my dignity
Had vanished in the ebb and flow
My darling daughter
I can
Feel your strength of purpose
I know you
Are doing everything you can
Everything a lass can do

An exultation I can hear it
Shedding tears not anymore
I am strengthened by your endeavours
They reach deep down into my core

Your values and your love for me
In melting mood wet eyed
I say
Thank you love for all you are doing
My thoughts are with you
And they will stay

for ever
