More woeful stories from Greece

There’s something going on in Greece
dogs are getting hung
mutilated thrown in crushers
their necks are being wrung
thrown into the ocean
tortured everyday
what the hell is happening
why do animals pay

Human beings really
are caught up in this mess
but animals are innocent
they don’t have the redress
they have to make the best of it
and the worst of it is they
are getting blamed and beaten
every single day

there’s hardly any good news
just a catalogue of bad
and I think that’s so very very
very very sad.

Today’s batch is a puppy dog
whose owner chopped off its tail
imagine just how painful
that is
a bloody trail
was left and lots of yelps and cries
a tail is so expressive
and now to realise
the dog will have to go through life
with no tail he can wag
and all that fear and all that pain
because someone, lost their rag

yesterday I heard 3 dogs were hung
upon a tree
someone took a rope to them
and hung them yes all 3
again one can’t imagine
those dogs yes one by one
what goes through a persons mind
all of them unsung

heroes in so many ways
the voiceless take it hard
Greece is in the doldrums
that’s when they drop their guard
these poor souls loyal and caring
are being made to feel
that they are now the reason
for the terror that is real

another dog was found to have
nails bashed in its feet
to do this takes a monster
could it be the heat
are these morons mental
what the hell is wrong
torture on this scale
proves to me now all along

That society is crumbling
that normality is too
law and order and caring
and sharing
no one wants to do
selfishness and cruelty
have risen to the fore
the animals are victims
of what apparently is war
