Servals as pets ( not for me and a wider implication for all wild souls future’s)

Let me set my stall out
right up front for you
I have never seen
adoption as a way
habitat loss is something
that is happening
but taking over exotic pets
does say
a similar kind of message
and I am very sure
the wild should always
really be out there
we have to appreciate
that there are wild creatures
who congregate and live their lives
and that I see as fair

Companies are set up now
to exploit them
to them the concept doesn’t mean a lot
if they can make some money out
cutting down the wilderness
they have the means
and need to fill their pot

wild animals should never ever
be contained
restricted in their movements
otherwise
they then become dependant on
the human who cannot begin to
realize

even our domestic cats have instincts
movements, habits, throwbacks to a time
when they too perhaps were feral
of were wild out in the bush
when survival mean’t they had to run and climb

but serval’s they are different
wild and wonderful
there is no doubt a rarity in fact
and unless you can contain them in a high enough
enclosure
how others and the authorities re act

will govern how the animals survival
based on what its use to in the wild
enclosing it as is the want of society
in truth will create souls really defiled
abused because they cannot live their true life
yes they are handsome and have quality
but as a living breathing handsome animal
as pets they really shouldn’t ever be

if we want them them then we build a mini zoo
an enclosure,where their freedom is usurped
for society has rules
to protect domestic species
and their nocturnal hunting
really calls
for freedom just to roam
and hunt, its in them
each sinew of their body really knows
when the night draws in they do go hunting
that is when the spirit really flows

and somewhere where there’s water
for it seems
unlike cats the serval likes the water
loves to swim and catch fish
it redeems
itself for in its make up, its uniqueness
it eats all sorts of creatures
mostly small
but the joy of catching and eating
is how the serval feeds
gorging and regurgitating everything it eats
really that’s the serval’s trait
and how it succeeds

they can leap up to 9 feet
and pluck a bird out of the air
they are equipped to do this in the wild
they are aware
you see already the serval is designed
more for the wild
than a pet although some homes
we hear are really being trialled

but unless you have a lot of land and money
and time and know what wild souls need
each day
they will never ever be a lap cat
not in this generation anyway
and in my heart I don’t feel it is proper
wild is wild and tame is cruel to me
the circus shows us that
wild is wild and zoo’s are cruel
and that is where its at do you agree?
its a kind of luke warm environment
a bridge thats just too far
if circus is wrong and rodeo’s wrong
then domestication too are
its a way to broaden that freedom
to denigrate how they live
to devalue their emotions
and arrogantly give
what you feel is what they need
but they need to be wild
that dears is their birthright
to us they are like a child

a child out of Africa
whose needs were written by
a higher force than the human force
and I believe that’s why
we should enjoy their photographs
and marvel at their form
but to morph them into domestic life
is drumming up a storm
