Estonia is no place for an elephant

On Narva beach
in Estonia
a circus elephant sank
whilst it appeared to be bathing
it fell off a sand bank
into deeper water and apparently
it drowned
sand got up into its trunk
as it floundered on the ground

Circus it can never be a place
for elephants, they
should be left where they were created
not be made to pay
by entertaining people
in big tops near and far
being broken in and taught vile tricks
or wondering where they are

its an alien place for animals
clearly full on stress
suicide is possible
clearly there is less
thought about survival
in an environment where they
are unhappy and are treated badly
every single day
