That’s how it has to be, for the male calf and the dairy industry

Here I am
holed up
inside dear mama
and now I’ve broken out
into the real world
in mama’s eyes
I am her little star

look at me all wet
an energetic soul
just about on top
of really walking
eyeing up what is to be
my role

mother oh she’s beautiful
I’m happy
to taste her wet nutrition
it is there
warm and its expressed
for me
it is coming but then again
instead its just despair

I’m a male
the chop is mine
and the milk of course is yours
death is my adventure
my milk! no its yours
to be
boiled up in your pudding
or added to your tea

bovine growth hormone
will be flowing through your soul
good luck madam
good luck sir
it will take its toll

the industry will make a killing
me of course, then you
but their shareholders
will rub their hands with glee
that’s what they do

some one makes a profit
my mama is sad
I am dead
so filled with dread
and you lot
well you be

you think mama is your mama
which of course can’t be
really you are as made as hell
and that’s how it has to be
