Hawthorns

Seven hundred years
Imagine that will you
From a seed to the sky
Up above
A massive life energy
Sprung ever upwards
A boundary marker
A foundation of love

An eco system interface
Drawing spirited soul
Sharp thorns protecting
A small mammals goal
Sanctuaries passages safe ways to roam
The densest of tangles
So many call home

In May a great wash of blossom
And cream
A sweet heady scent a purposeful dream
The fruits it produces
Loved by the birds
Dried into a tea
Leaving me lost for words

Faeries love Hawthorn, such enchantment is there’s
Historic significance
Wildest affairs
An ancient well, and a curious abode
A magickal pathway
A mine even, a short road
Marked, those old happenings
So people say
Leaving their clouties all over the bowers
Magic and spell craft
Hours after hours

Young leaves and flowers
Sweet meats to try
Nibble them pick them
As you pass by
Vitamin C from the glorious haw
Pears of the pixie
And cooks bread cheese raw

Welcoming energy
Wonderful peace
Intuitive happening
A brighter release
It opens one’s heart
To the true empathy
Protection forever
Talismanic you see.
