Spirit Maidens

Within the rings
what do we see
spirit maidens
yes they be
obvious to you
and I
peeping out
into our sky
having lived for
5 decades, they
within the our tree
sawn down today
and crashing down
to the forest floor
this can be our home
no more
our kingdom’s lost
the heartwood was
warm and fragrant
just because
the wood man
had decided we
must crash down
nothing sensory
into the copse
with an awesome force
ligneous lights
that’s us of course
