Melaka River and its shortcomings

Melaka River
was a tidal river
till some bright spark
decided they would try
to advertise it as Malaysia’s
Venice
a boat ride to into Paradise
and why ?
so tourists get a peice
of Melaka’s history
the river once a crodillian swamp
block it from the sea
the idea mooted
and put that in place
and that is what we see

so the depth is high enough
and constant
the tourist boats can ply
their way along
and who cares
for the cat fish in the river
they can close thir little eyes
and die

when it rains and thats now almost daily
the people in low lying land, alas
are flooded just imagine all the stress
thats caused
really it affects souls now enmasse
just so tourists get a few hours on the river
I tell you someone’s judgements shot away
the tourists would be better off
looking at a river
not watching a river die
gradually, each day

the whole sad natural story
to do what they have done
proves to me poor judgment and just how it has won
we should unblock the river
feel the tidal flow
Venice is in Italy
if people want to go
there they can, Melaka
has a tidal river
and she
should be proud it was God given
and really let that be

Sorry Mr Mayor I think this decision
will damage the city long term
