Wasps

Wasps are amazing sculptors
And they do it with their tongue
They lick wooden fences and
Attic wood among
Others things converting it
With their saliva they
Create a kind of structured nest
And really thats their way

Existing with their queen in tow
Who they all protect for she
Is really their creator
And, their destiny
Workers gobble up insects
And love the ripened grape
They take inside their bodies
Live yeasts its for their sake

To feed their young but also
To return and share the yeast
Make the grapes far tastier
And our wine at least
Made fuller and beautiful as well
So much of that down to the wasp
Which few around may tell

Mutualism is a means
Where fruits and insects do
Combine a work of nature
Making figs do things for you
If the fig is a male fig
Wasp mothers lay their eggs
And the grubs get out as quickly as they can
On their wee legs
If the fig is a female fig
When the female wasp enters she
Loses her wings and the fig infact
Will digest her completely.

So wasps do eat a lot of bugs
They make for delicious wine
And also allow us to eat figs
Another miraculous sign
That our mother has been cogitating
And came up with this idea
That make wasps very useful
And help dispel their fear
