Left to their own devices
The wolves of Chernobyl
Nuclear power spiked every hour
And packs of wolves there still
Despite the contamination
They are breeding well and seem
To be pleased they see no hunters
And the forest seems a dream
They dont have docimeters
And some of the clicks they hear
Dont relate to radiation
So nothing there to fear
No hunters in the vicinity
And, freedom to go
It all just feels like heaven
To them and it seens to show
A completely empty city
Trees and fields and they
Are overgrown with wild plants
And garden flowers that stray
This way that way everyway
They have the freedom to
Grow anywhere they want
In life and mostly that is true
Life’s cycle thus continues
Predator and prey
The animals seem happy
In their own sweet way
Some resort to using the buildings
That were left
But others stay in forest dens
Totally bereft
Of any human contact
And so the city seems
To slowly be re natured
With really teams and teams of wild plants
Weeds and herbs and flowers
Kicking humanity out
Nurturing the environment
Now without a doubt
Some wolves have been collared
Tested and appear
HAppy enough to be living
With few humans to fear
Clearly they are attracting
Radiation but they
Are apparently still healthy
As they go about each day
Not concerned about the nuclear stuff
Carrying on their life
Building for their future
And not dwelling on the strife
It seems that is a human problem
And wolves some yea may die
But they dont care a monkeys
And possibly that is why
They dont go to doctors and hospitals
And they
Dont drink or smoke or go insane
We can learn and may
Lear a lot from Chernobyl
From the wild souls that live there
Undergoing terror
But not showing the despair
