A subtle swish of horror
On a yuletide canvas where
A joyful picture is unrolled
For all of us to share
A father in the garden
Erecting the trampoline
not without some difficulty
But we see the coming scene
Whereupon the local wild life
Discover that its there
Two foxes and a badger
All very much aware
A squirrel and a hedgehog
The wild souls of the wood
Have all come by to try it out
And, just feel how good
It is to share the bounty
The beauty and the beast
Inside the boxer dog observes
The famine and the feast
An advertising agency
Encroaching on the mind
Not coming necessarily from a safe place
Underlined
The fantasy of animals
But omit to really feel
The urgency of the sentience
Though not altogether real
The sensation they created
The responsiveness is how
A pet dog tuned to others
Will express the now
His effusiveness and fervour
When he gets the chance to see
And he too tries the trampoline
Imagining he is free
To do this but the child behind
Watches surprisingly
As do her parents watching her
And what they fail to see
Is the arrogance of the message
Two foxes from a farm
Raised we hear by hunters
And a badger too so calm
And all the other wild ones
We have to clear the fog
Of what is expectation
And Christmas sales, agog
With this feral activity
The message that we see
Is Foxes and a Badger abused
with alacrity
The source it seems apparently
A producer who Supplies
wine and has kennels on the site
The home of a local hunt
I do surmise
So what is its real message
Is it just fantasy
A charming little yuletide tale
Of giving joyfully
And by so doing then provide
Two fox cubs from the farm
That is involved in hunting foxes
So I dont feel that calm
And rightly how are foxes hunted
Though illegal maybe so
But the hounds will tear the souls apart
As everyone does know
Or the trapper will come hither
And hide his traps around
To torture and maim the wild fox
That will then be fur coat bound
And the same farm then is willing
To shoot the badgers who
Its alleged will cause the cows to be
Sick the cull its true
So the use is made of these animals
Who are tortured and are killed
In a blaze of CHristmas joyousness
We are numbed as their blood is spilled
It demonstrates an ignorance
A stupor far and wide
An indifference for the wilder souls
An unresponsive slide
Into the irrepressible
A general frame of mind
So tempered and now moulded
Of those Watching from behind
It glosses over reality
The doleful sense of loss
What is the criminality
The shame it just does toss
It into a great fantasy
Of the gifted trampoline
And of what all these adverts are for
For the corporate machine
Planning out each strategy
Creating figures to
Top other competitors
For thats what it must do
But who you use and who they are
And how they quantify
What they do and how they think
Whether their reasons why
The tenderness the melting mood
The festivities abroad
The unrepining ministry
That all can now afford
The serious loss of consciousness
Surrounding our furry friends
Who have a depth of feeling
But in this story is where it ends
