Don’t come crying to me (Bush Meat The Dilemma)

Commercial logging
kills so much
clearly the loggers
are out of touch
as they tear the forest
down, we see
the snares go in
and the chimpanzee
is killed for meat
for meat to eat
Bush meat seemingly
a baby sits beside
its poor dead mother
tragically.

Jane Goodall’s spent her life
saving the Chimpanzees
And she knows just how terrible
it is
But clearly there’s a market
The Bush meat orphans grow
the babies lose their mothers
and no one wants to know
protein is apparently
what they feel they need
anything that they can shoot
or trap, and use to feed
although they need a permit
to kill a Gorilla, still
because the need to eat
protein, its blood
they are going to spill
The corporations buying into
unsustainable wood
and flogging it just anywhere
they are no bloody good.
Karma will catch up on them
in this life possibly
and when it does I say to them
Don’t come crying to me!
