Wolves

Wolves are wild as wild as Nature
the wilderness is their abode
instinct gives them so much prowess
and they carry a vital load
they were always in the moment
sensing so much, that’s their power
having to contend with man
whose ranches now begin to tower
extensive fencing creates boundaries
in the minds of men who see
very little for their sad eyes
are blinded by reality
in a storm a man is often
lost the natural world can fool
him but then he isn’t learning
already he thinks he knows it all
the wolf and other wild souls living
outside in the wilderness
they have by their willingness to learn
and so easily de-stress
we could learn a great deal from them
but we see them in a light
which we create a cast of shadows
and thus we try to use our might
against them call the hunter trapper
armed to the teeth with his 4×4
a city dweller whose concrete structure
and high rise conscience doth ignore
remember the wild ones have their feet
squarely in the sod
they feel the mean vibrations
they are closer to their god
for us to shoot and kill them
for us to pass more laws
for us to restrict their freedom
and enter into wars
is ignorance and arrogance
which won’t get us very far
our ranchers might imagine they know lots
but then they star
in their own production possibly
but in the wilderness
they are lost
tossed by the wild winds
sent a packing
as they now must confess
