The Breach

Flat and calm
An ocean blue
The breach happened
Was it overdue
Spangles on a rainbow theme
The great whale flipped
And it would seem

To excite the man
In his small row boat
Despite the swell
He was still afloat
The magnificence of
this startling whale
Who breached the surface
And found the trail

Upwards where the light can be
Significant and
Forever free
Crashing back an
Explosive force
A vast array
From whatever source

Hurled upwards
Threatening
Towards the sky
All the sea
On me
Which was why
She did fly
Such velocity
Bubbles and spray
Enveloped me
on that day
Where was I
On the surface seeing
What was this fulsome being
Entering my space today
Filling me with an irksome play
On words, a poet notices why
The breach was made
She had tried to fly

An enormous body
A crashing sound
A fearful escape
Clearly around
My boat awash with torrent wash
Rippling surfaces
Trying to squash
My little boat
Like matchsticks, I
Was lifted up into the sky
