Great Crested Newts

Triturus Cristatus
Or the Great Crested Newt
Amazingly rare
In it’s black and gold suit
A most rare amphibian
Protected by
A wild life license
And is often why
Delays tend to happen in planning
For they
Cannot be moved on
At the end of the day
House building road building
Projects can be
Delayed or re routed
Apparently
Labour as we all know
Growth is the theme
They are building more houses
More and more on stream
The chancellor tells us
That wild life will not be
Slowing down projects
And that’s now surely

Going to speed up the projects
Abroad
Britain wants housing stock
We can afford
The GCN oroblem
Though important we know
But laws will be changed
And we now know what for
The warty Newt if you see one
Don’t tread
We need physical barriers
Though that’s what she said
The wildlife and countryside Act 1981
Will have to be changed
Which cannot be fun
For these darling little newts
