Humanity v the animals

Where are the truths
That once were told
The sincerity and honesty
These days so much deception
A human trait it seems to me
Wildness in the animal kingdoms
No sleight of paw nor claw me thinks
An honesty and boldness reigns
But why so many end up in chains
