Poor pigs

The slaughterhouse
The death camp
The place of no return
Pigs are very sensitive
Filled with such concern
For each other
And for family
A real threshold of pain
The DEFRA code of Practice
It just all feels insane

Some Workers just ignore so much
The physical abuse
The surfaces can be slippery
Filthy let’s deduce
The unsanitary conditions
Carcasses about
They come in lame
With growths and stress
Visible injuries
Just a mess

Deformities
Stress so severe
Some drop dead
From all the fear
All the supermarkets
That we know
Seemingly accept a flow

Red Tractor and the RSPCA
Apparently check
All made to pay
Poor pigs suffering
Such distress
Visible injuries
Wounds no less
From birth to death
The cries
the pain
The meat trade
It just feels insane

The Animal Justice Project
The Animals Welfare Act
Is knocked for six
Seemingly for some how they react
Workers some caught laughing
Pigs can feel inside
The undercover musing
So many just deride

Some drop dead from excessive stress
Repetitive strain we see
Bruised and sprained and fractured
All this adversity
Chafed and flinch and feel the pangs
Suffering so much more
Than any pigs should ever suffer
Does the carnivore

Realise the horror
What it’s really like
To be killed in fear and trepidation
Treated like a tike
Beaten bashed and broken
Forced into chambers where
Gas is pumped and bodies dumped
Martyrs of despair.

Looking good in plastic trays
Under the pink lights
People buy the wholesome cuts
Who now under rights
The quality the principles
The sadness and the way
The Pigs were killed
Their Blood was spilled
On any given day
