Henry V111 and Hemel

The secret trysts some call them tunnels
Under the streets
From the church to elsewhere
Ladies could escape from the church
You see
And nobody knew
What was going on there

HENAMSTED a place
St Mary’s Church
Now called Hemel
A place to perch
Assorted shops
And cafe’s there
And a charter market
For all to share

I met Joe
A marketeer
House of Elliot
It is clear
A gift shop
Set out mighty well
All sorts of nice things
Quite the spell

One can achieve
Looking around
I was happy, that we had found
Once upon a time
Right here
It was known as Bunyan’s Ford
Me dear

It’s worth a gentle stroll
I’d say
A place to park and you are on your way
The river Gade
Runs through the park
An old chalk stream
coming to life too after dark
Eating houses
Fine old pubs
Meander will you visit Joe
He’s the man whose is in the know

House of Elliot
