Sunday 7th July

This morning a sweet blue sky
This afternoon we see
The blue has gone and grey replaces
The light diminishingly
Not a lot of wind around
But scoops of powerful rain
Scallop designs on window panes
Rats feel it in the drain

Wimbledon is playing out
Players feeling rough
Storm clouds rolling mercifully
Just two weeks is tough
Lots of tickets bought up
A lot of money spent
Outside courts are wasted
Will the rain relent

You wait all year to see it
And rain takes it away
Centre court is covered
That’s where people say
The edge, dry it can pour outside
But inside players play
Light floods in fantastically
To improve the day

Here we have poor weather
Too many con trails we
The jetsters in the early hours
The cadmium that be
Geo engineering science thinks they know
A method of controlling
Weather and its flow

At my age watching arrogance
Play out almost each day
All the metallic particles
Jettisoned away
Nature has the upper hand
In everything we do
And boffins in laboratories
Don’t really have a clue.
