Gardens

The move away from gardens
Strips of tarmac we
See the plastic grass rolled out
It’s how it has to be
The car needs space
For off road parking
As for grass and trees
Houses now are maintenance free
Shingle if you please

Growing plants oh goodness
Wildlife not any more
Butterflies and bird song
It gets into my craw
We need the concrete bricks and
Rolls of wild flowers possibly
We can always put some flower pot
Around
And let them be

Our garden as for hedgehogs and insects by the score
Attracting birds
I am lost for words
Why there is a war
Against the frontage gardens
To me it is a sin
So many new builds
Awfully plain
It gets under my skin
