Little lambs

The modus operandi
With baby lambs whose tails
Are born long
And need shortening
No matter how wrong
That is and no matter
How painful it be
To use a rubber band
To cut off blood
And then to see
The longer end fall off
Somewhere down the line
These are little babies
With feelings
Is it fine
To torture them
To realise they are
Going to suffer pain
and it’s just farming practice
Leading to monetary gain
