” a dog from the street 1957 Moscow

From the streets of Moscow
A dog was collected
Poor little soul
They decided that he
Would be put in the Sputnik2
And fired skywards
Indeed it’s death sentence
Just had to be

Laika they called him
Fired into space
Some real disgrace
Imagine the anger imagine the fear
Being stuck in a whirring machine
It is clear.
All on his own a sweet tearful heart
Whizzing around the earth
A true sweetheart
