Hawthorn Hart

The pink of the sky
And the blue of the dew
The fence posts erected
The excitement feels true
Horley smiles outwardly
It’s therapy
A transfiguration
For people to see

Ritual so private
It’s wonders we feel
Enchantment and witchery
It does reveal
So much expectancy
So much to see
It’s winsome charm
And it’s tranquillity

An impulse to meditate
Under the trees
On terra firma
It just seems to please
Arable pasture
A carpet of life
Of ongoing longevity
Of function and strife

A vast community
Laid out before
The crunch of the grass
Feels wonderfully sure
A sweetness of morning
A velvety floor
A sky high mosaic
So open and raw

So much to think about
A special place
Liberality listens
With mercy and grace
Respect and attention for Nature
Today
Overawed by it all
And the call of the fey

Ancestors cometh
Seen in high standing
Felt with a deference
Never demanding
Admiring the ceremony
The earth idea
Such salutation
Emboldened and clear
