The fabled Sycamore

A tree of such finery
It’s many years absorbing
so many hearts and eyes
Locked into the earth
fashioned from life itself
Someone whose arrogant ignorance
Tragically belies
All the glory and all the passion
Rooted from the skies

The very skies above us
To be murdered in first light
Torn out of existence
And part
of an ugly flight
Exposed and bloodied
Thwarted let’s say
Naked torn and lusted after
