Don’t blame the people smugglers

Illegal immigration
A torturous affair
the absence of compassion
To the people living there
Struggling at the waters edge
Seeing the many men
Arriving without paperwork
A reluctance to know when

Or where they think they should be housed
Looked after given food
The ignorance of thinking
See awkwardness exude
Sense bewilderment and uncertainty
Among the locals who
Are struggling to pay their rent
Unversed to what is true

The absurdness it feels harebrained
What government body sees
These arrivals are causing great concern
It’s invasive naturally
Millions being spent each year
To accommodate them all
At a time when the cost of living
Is frighteningly in free fall
