A candlelight vigil
For Lolita whose passed
She will travel to the Rainbow Bridge
We are aghast
At the profitable interlude
She had to endure
At the hands of Aquaria
Wholly impure
Thought and philosophy
An Orca as great
As any before her
She always sedate
A lady of principle
Savaged and stolen
From the ocean the notion
She belonged
A beautiful wild creature
Subjected to torture
Imprisoned by corporates
Who heartlessly thought
They could take advantage
Of her true being
And threaten and ruin
Her life she had sought
To abuse her for fifty years
Imagine that horror
She suffered their indignant
Cruelty each year
Made to be used purely as entertainment
Imagine her predicament
Of course and her fear
She perished just recently
Gawped at by many
The ignorant unwise
Who paid to incur
Her added torture the evil
The terror corporate arrogance
A darkened slur
Protest has been ongoing
We know this but so few were resolute
Enough to see
This wonderful creature
Returned to the ocean
Away from the corporate
Now tragically
A candle light send off
Many hearts weeping
We feel for her passing
A sensitive who
No doubt had picked up
The heart felt protesting
And now send her forwards
To a safe place that’s true
In the wild steely blue

If you feel the way Rex and I do about capturing and keeping these intelligent mammals in captivity, in tiny pools, and trained to do tricks, you may be interested in reading more at the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society web site: https://uk.whales.org/
They have been campaigning against this practice for years, with some degrees of success.
PS Glad to see you still posting and prosing, Rex. 🙂
