>To the latter day writer
One has to admit
The summery weather
Really did not fit
Into the usual holiday peak
So much rain has fallen
Week after weak
The sky mostly blanketed in a
Dull grey
Warmish in mornings
But cooler they say
Rain and a wind that is dismal
And strong
At this time of the year
It just feels all wrong
The flowers that arrive
Face the wrath and alas
Are blown to the ground
A lot have en masse
A miserable holiday
For those who stay
The garden the beach
Long walks arn’t the way
It needs to be dry
The sun needs to shine
Light clothes and bright eyes
And a nice glass of wine
But despite very hot weather
On Europe’s shore
England is suffering
Yes more and more
It’s not in the sea weather
Or tanning brown
Its more dress up and wander
Perhaps lunch in town
