Beltaine glasto

A willingness to ready
Beltane sets the scene
The people clad in mystery
You feel that if you have been
Bards of course and musicians
The people young and old
Strolling up the high street
On joy clearly all sold

Studious and sedulous
Smiles on every face
Behaviour and deportment
The drummers mark the pace
Dignity and presence
Up and down the street
Hear the chitter chatter
And really feel the beat

The dragon on her stilted legs
Music in her soul
Fancy dress
We need to bless
The Clannishness, the role
Of true collaboration
A fraternity all there
Mutual understanding
A cordial affair

Provocative and challenging
Rebellious they be
Paying homage to the mayor
Flourishing it be
A kind of liberation
A catharsis in a way
Redemption and salvation
On this very special day

Emporiums and markets
A wealth of Wytchyness
Bountiful liberality
Lavish and reckless
Past the white Spring
Up the narrow
Soon towards the Tor
The ritual of the many
And everybody’s sure

Such effusiveness
We are overwhelmed
By the sensitive and kind
All shapes and sizes
Maudlin, tingling
Eager breathless lies
Excitable emotional
And pure
Unflappable unstoppable
An easy going lure

Animated everyone
To a jocular degree
Roguish mirthful tickled pink
Rejoicing avidly.
Glastonbury’s expectations
Everyone can feel
It’s reassuring to be there
It really is so real
Caution to the wonderment
Spell binding magic too
It really is a phenomenon
Where all one’s dreams come true.

Common folk towns folk
The unwashed and the many
Gaffers peasants backwoodsman
The touchy and the vain
Humble -minded arts and graces
Found glory in the rain.
Bunting streamers magic spells
If you have ever been before
You realise how wonderful we are
And what we are all here for.
