Karachi Zoo

Zoo’s are not ideal places
For animals to be
Where animals are living stock
Scant respect we see
Irreverence from staffing
Disparagement and scorn
Offhanded treatment
Follows indiscipline, torn away
These creatures tragically
Sensitive and feeling
Undutifulness, a plea
They off er up but seldom
Are their cries heard tragically
I feel their humiliation
And vile civility.
