Chocolate

africa’s children suffering so

kidnapped a lot of them

and made to go

to the very poor farms

where the beloved cacao

is grown and is harvested

I do ask how?

terrible conditions

children are slaves

big corporations

many are knaves

earning huge profits

abusing those who

are as poor as  church mice

That is the view

of their future perhaps

the struggle for life

bound up in much pain and heartache

and tragically

a world of strife

calves many calves

find the death camp

or end up as veal on a slab

their milk  was stolen

to add to the chocolate

a pint and a half Cadbury!s grab

imagine the pain of the mother

seeing her babies consigned

to the abattoir

care of the  farmers

as on the poor souls

many dined

the industry doesnt help chickens or calves

babies are murdered each day

whether for chocolates

or for Easter  eggs

the animals passing away

East african children

still many slaves

and the cacao farmers all  poor

the chocolate sales all over the West

Its a test to how many  ignore

the reality and continue to buy less of the

artisanal  organic no palm oil no dairy brands

and more of the heavily advertised brands.

slavery child labour poverty rainforest loss to the world

palm oil  dairy industry suffering
