Murder most vile

2014

the motliest of crews

made it to Knightsbridge

They wouldn’t refuse

Stood out in  all weathers

having set up their stall

Robert Platt and his team

with banners and leaflets

they went out full steam

outside Harvey Nichol’s

great windows of glass

pictorial images

as people pass

all the trapped mammals

screaming in pain

trapped with crushed limbs

again and again

in their neck of the woods

broken legs ruptured spleens

The evil of man

and assorted machines

that strip skin and tissue

And watch innocents die

insensitive traders

who put out their lie

selling furs, selling skin

blatant disregard

the cruelty aspect

it is very hard

to look into the eyes

of a Coyote and see

its utter  concern

for presumably

its family, its cubs

its future their pain

the trapper won’t feel

They are three parts insane

Thats if they come back

Remembers where  he

left his vile trap

by some old  tree

the victim in horror

Dispatched with a boot

or shot through the head

life seen just as loot

we plead for the Victims

we feel all the pain

the blood in their eyes

the enormous strain

such humiliation

irreverently

murdered in cold blood

unimaginatively

stony and indifferent

thats the fur trade

Their  careless unwillingness

never to aid

a dying animal

pleading aloud

who is seen as means to an end

what a coward

the department stores

are packed every day

we appeal, and we reveal

our dislike for the  way

babies are slaughtered

for handbags and shawls

expressing courage

My god  it appals

facing some wrath

from some passers by

who jibe with their taunts

someone’s got to die

so what if a beaver

Is throttled  so what

a nice tail on my hat

Thats  what I have got

we do get ridiculed

some of the day

others will listen

others will pay

krespects to our battle

our eccentricity

some cant see just how monstrous

it is actually

we used  our loud speakers

and made ourselves heard

it upset some punters

who thought us absurd

but wearing a dead fox

wrapped all around

or a big fluffy collar

That costs fifty pound

all of this killing this terror this pain

It’s why we  were there

and  we came back again

For weeks on end
