Lydia

lydia

a classic name

once no doubt

a young mans flame

burning brightly

eyes of brown

played the boards

in London Town

quite the dancer

so she said

but from the look of her

not so well fed

a moldy roll

Her tights had run

her shoes were holed

what had she done

Fell on hard times

her flame that once shone

her dancing prowess

clearly gone

the memories really

all that was left

of everything else

she appeared  bereft.

But we chatted  a while thankfully
