Eventide

pink skies

at sunset

a cold blue sky

hardly any wind about

a stillness

its no lie

a grey swept cloudscape

enthused by night

hangs in the East

street lights are now engaged

everywhere feels calm

a biting chill has blown today

our bare limbs to disarm

the spirit after the sunshine

we had the previous week

to find snowflakes falling the other day

i realise how weak

we all are Winter worriers

the energy costing more

we are wearing outer clothes inside

and what is more

going  to bed much earlier

before the sky is dark

leaving the radiators off

its how we leave a mark.
