Orangutans

These beautiful red apes

so intelligent they

are up against poachers

bushmeat they say

habitat destruction

the  Palm oil brigade

the  loggers the destruction

and the  pet trade

stealing wee babies

expressing such fear

these short  legged apes

with their massive long arms

fruit eating bark eating honey eating

calms

my nerves to still see them

in the canopy

critically endangered

so wild and free

fantastic memories

so much to learn

up againt humans

who will watch great apes burn

for the palm oil and logging

watch them atop

of tall bendy trees

watching men chop

tree after tree

the quest is there

my displeasure to see

so much disrespect

their itreverence sucks

the contempt that we see

Scorn and disdain

discourtesy

it so upset me, that man

thinks that he

feels that his meanness

can replace the  tree

all of that history

all of that care

and all of the mystery

being aware

of the fungal root growth

and medicines too

it just feels so right

to do what we do.
