The old cherry tree

it had stood thirty years

in my garden

about twenty feet high

in the shade

of a Copper Beech real strong and mighty

two splendid souls on parade

five years or so  ago

someone

not an arbourist sadly

came by

and cut off some branches

all done willy nilly alas

and the tree it was obviously weakened

the  workman abundantly crass

since  then it has slowly recovered

it has struggled through the seasons and I

could feel its pain it had taken the strain

but thankfully it didnt die

it retained  its leaves every season

witheld its nutrients  and

its called marscense  its reliance it builds

strength and resistance

to heighten  its yields

if we know then we do understand.
